Welcome
The Fremont Public Library Great Books Reading Group Welcomes You
The Fremont Public Library Great Books Reading Group is located on 1170 Midlothian Road,
Mundelin, Il. We meet on the last Saturday of each month, at 9:15 AM in the Library. The Group
is a member of the Chicago Area Great Books Council. The Great Books tradition was established
by Mortimer Adler and Robert M. Hutchins as a way for people to foster liberal education in the
United States.
The Fremont group was formed in 2008 to provide a forum for people to meet and discuss great
literature, using the sharing inquiry discussion format, which encourages members to read each
selection carefully and engage in discussion utilizing the text as the starting point for discussion.
At the end of each year, the group determines selections for the following year, with topics
ranging from contemporary fiction, non-fiction, history, science fiction, plays and poetry as well
as classical literature. The panel on the right shows some of the selections we have read since
the club began.

We’ve added a series of discussion questions to the site for Classics, Plays, Novels,
Science Fiction, Epics, Mysteries, and History and Autobiography. These questions have been
developed by our group members or have been modified or added from questions
developed by other sites.
